This forward-thinking book by Foundation Advocate Dennis Wingo examines how the exploration of space may eventually transform the global economy.
Joan Johnson-Freese and Roger Handberg, both involved in space policy analysis, lay out a road map for major changes in the way the U.S. conceives and executes space activities.
Humankind must deal with an energy crisis and the depletion of natural resources. Lewis argues that the solution to these problems is to tap the vast resources of the Solar System.

Race to the Moon
Race to the Moon – The Daring Adventure of Apollo 8
The Foundation recommends this PBS documentary about Apollo 8. The DVD has an additional 25 minutes of material, including a scene about the Apollo 8 crew being offered the first landing, and another about Jim Lovell erasing all of the navigation information during the flight home.

Los Angeles Times: "A splendid telling of an exciting tale, economical yet powerful...The film captures not only the sense of scientific adventure and political necessity that attended the mission but also its emotional, decidedly spiritual finishing note. It is also quite beautiful to behold – in sharp, vivid color that brings the past forcefully into the present."

Unreal Estate – The Men Who Sold the Moon
"Virgiliu has done stellar research on this topic. You will find the stories he tells to be compelling, the legal arguments as to why one cannot own space real estate to be illuminating, and the entire book to be not only unique but very special." – Dr. David M. Livingston, Host of The Space Show.

Virgiliu Pop is one of the world's space property rights specialists. A member of the International Institute of Space Law, Virgiliu has authored several acclaimed papers in the field of space law and policy, and has been interviewed by New Scientist, Space.com/MSNBC, The Space Show, La Tercera (Chile), Ta Nea (Greece), Geo Magazine (Germany) and several publications in his native Romania.

The Rocket Company
The Rocket Company by Patrick J. G. Stiennon, David M. Hoerr, Doug Birkholz (Illustrator), 6x9 paperback, 263 pages, published by AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics (July 15, 2005).

This book is promoted as a novel. It's much more than a novel – it really is a primer of "rocket science." I am a missile engineer with 27 years experience in the design and development of rockets and missiles. While most of my experience is with solid propellant missiles, I have a working knowledge of liquid rockets. Patrick tells it how it truly is. The book leads the reader through the classical trade-offs involved in designing a liquid-fueled payload-to-orbit rocket system. – Bob Dietz, courtesy Amazon.com

The Frontier Enabling Test
Our definition of a "frontier enabling" technology or policy is one which has as its effect the acceleration of the creation of low cost access to the space frontier for private citizens and companies, enables or accelerates our use of space resources, and/or accelerates the rate at which wealth can be generated in space. In other words, is the project or policy going to provide a return on the national investment, if we define "return" to be the economically sustainable human habitation of space?
